After weeks of arguing back and forth with her financial managers and one admittedly stressful trip back to California to meet with them personally, Essie was now the proud and somewhat terrified owner of a failed antique shop, all its assets and the small empty lot adjacent to it. The papers were signed, she (with the help of the ever-helpful and patient miracle-worker Jackson) had started the process to get all the licenses she would need, and she'd arranged to have whatever she decided had to go to be picked up in a week for an auction. Now she stood in front of the building with Dan's leash lightly in her hand and stared at the whole thing.

It was... quirky. She honestly had no idea what the previous owners had been thinking when they put everything together, but every time she'd walked past the place she'd been equal parts charmed and curious. She'd even picked up a few items for her workroom, jars, boxes, one of those apothecary cupboards with all the little drawers in them, and that was how she'd found out they were selling out and heading to Florida. After months of wondering what she was going to do with her life here in Siren Cove, she'd had something almost dropped in her lap.

Opening the door wide and putting a stone in front of it so some fresh air could come inside, Essie led her companion in where he promptly found a table to curl up under and take a nap. Affixing his leash to the table so he couldn't wander off, she headed back outside for the large signs she'd picked up and started putting them in the windows: CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS and HELP WANTED: INQUIRE WITHIN.

And her favorite, a large colorful poster she'd had printed special:

Beneath was the phone number to the shop that would send any inquiries to a voice-mail box that she could manage from anywhere. It was terrifying and daunting but if everything went according the the business plan she'd drawn up with Jackson's help, she knew she could make it work. With the signs up, Essie pulled out a large binder from her oversized bag, the store's inventory and started walking around deciding what would stay and what would go to auction.

[ooc: Feel free to poke your head in the door or if you're a friend/family you can assume she texted you about this. Essie's shop is tentatively located down the block from Joel's bookstore, so close to the boardwalk part of town. For more details and some pics of what it will look like, you can go HERE. It's time this little rich girl got a real job, amirite?]

Opened in late spring of 2015 by Essie Wakewood, Uncommon Objects is the place to go if you're looking for all things vintage. From a large selection of vinyl records, consignment clothing and home accessories straight out of Nana's attic, Uncommon Objects will have the discerning curio-hunter covered. While choosy about what is taken in, the business is happy to work with any and all individuals with their own uncommon objects to sell offering fair commissions and a bright atmosphere conveniently located right off the boardwalk.

Next door, the small empty lot between Uncommon Objects and its neighbor has been renovated into a cosy performance space. A covered stage and partially covered seating offers an intimate performance opportunity for any and all musicians and performers, with regular open mics for interested individuals. With heaters for the colder months, fans for the warmer and a small bar, patrons are welcome to wander in and out to enjoy the atmosphere.
